MCA Cricket springs back into action

MCA Cricket will return after a lull of three months with the 10th Stafford Motor Co.sponsored Honda Trophy -Mca‘g’division 25-over League Tournament 2020/21 final between Pyramid Wilmar and Abans Group on August 7 at the MCA Grounds, commencing at 10 a.m.

The final, which was initially scheduled for May 2, was put on hold due to the Covid-19 third wave.the match will be played strictly adhering to health regulations, with only a limited number of spectators allowed into the ground. The two teams may be a little rusty having played their semi-finals all the way back on April 24; Pyramid Wilmar created a huge upset, eliminating the unbeaten and tournament favourites Hayleys Group ‘B’ by two wickets, while Abans Group comprehensively beat Zillion Systems by 46 runs.

Pyramid Wilmar’s top performers have been Lasith Fernando (190 runs,including two half-centuries), Malintha Peiris (163 runs,including two half-centuries), Umedha Madushan (nine wickets),lakmal Fernando (eight wickets) and Nishan Perera (seven wickets).

Rangana Kaushalya (173 runs inclusive of a halfcentury and ten wickets), Maduranga Hettiarachchi (173 runs,including a half-century),isuru Jayaranga (155 runs and ten wickets), sanjaya Muthuthanthri (nine wickets) and Hasaranga Perera (seven wickets) have excelled for Abans Group.
