Fast & Furious 9’ beats pandemic

Much awaited the latest Fast 7 Furious instalment, the global box office hit ‘ The Fast Saga and Fast & Furious 9’ or ‘ F9’ is now being released in theatres in Colombo and island wide.

Breaking the pandemic box office, the film that was released on April 1 has become the most successful film to be released since the Covid-19 spread began, the latest instalment of the series, starring Vin Diesel and the team, grossed over record breaking 650 million US Dollars around the world by last week. By July, F9 was marked as the third-highest-grossing film of 2021, the highest-grossing American film and the highest grossing Englishlanguage film of 2021.

Directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay by Daniel Casey and Lin, this is the sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017). Alongt with Diesel the cast includes Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘ Ludacris’ Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron.

Dom Toretto is living the quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, but they know that danger always lurks just over the peaceful horizon. This time, that threat forces Dom to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves most. His crew soon comes together to stop a worldshattering plot by the most skilled assassin and highp e r for mance driver they’ve ever encountered -Dom’s forsaken brother.

The film is now being screened at Liberty By Scope, Colombo City Center, Majestic Cinema, C o l o m b o, Re g a l Dematagoda, Savoy 3D – Colombo, Vista Lite – Ja Ela and over 20 theatres around the country.
