Homelands Group donates towards the construction of a new hospital building in Tangalle

Chairman of Home Lands Group, Mr. Nalin Herath, has donated to a tune of Rs 7.5 million to the Base Hospital – Tangalle, to Dr. Dilka Saranasinghe - Medical superintendent, Base Hospital – Tangalle, who received the cheque on behalf of the hospital. Home Lands Group donated on the 6th of October 2021 at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Colombo 07. Youth and Sports Minister and Hambantota Parliamentarian, Hon. Namal Rajapakse attended the event.

Commenting on the donation, Mr. Nalin Herath said he believed his contribution would allow the new hospital building to offer the best facilities and the best care, transforming it to an even better level.

“The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that heroes are working every day in our hospitals. I’ve been so impressed and encouraged by our local hospital staff - they’ve not only continued pushing forward in these difficult times, but they’ve also been enhancing the care they give,” he added.

The donation is towards building an innovative new hospital building that will revolutionize and enhance the quality of health care in the region. It is proposed to be four stories tall, with the ground and

first floors dedicated to maternity and gynecology patients, the second floor dedicated to the eye ward, and the third floor dedicated to the laboratory, with each ward housing 20 beds.

His efforts, it is hoped, will generate momentum among the community. “Our hospitals are the beating heart of our communities. They help all of us, so let us support them in return.”
