Forgotten town
A one time commercial hub in the Sabragamuwa Province during the colonial days is now in a neglected state, despite several monuments which deserved to be conserved.
Th e village of Dedugala, located in the Bulathkohupitiya Divisional Secretariat area of the Yatiyantota Electorate was the commercial hub with some 100 shops in the area.
The town consisted of a post office, three saloons, textile shops, liquor shop, a bakery and a beef stall among others.
Bus services operated even at midnight.
The town was mostly developed during the British era.
However, today the area has been turned into a mere village with the place in a neglected state.
