Home-based care for COVID-19 thrives

Recover in the safety and comfort of your home, if you get infected with the coronavirus.

Not only the Health Ministry but also many patients who have been part of the ‘Patient Home Isolation and Management System’ – PHIMS are singing its praises.

More than 130,000 patients have been under this system, with only 1.5% needing hospital admission during the recovery period, it is learnt.

First launched in the Western Province, it is now in place across the country. Under this system, COVID- 19 positive patients who are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic and not in the high- risk category are

managed at home, easing the hospital load.

Specially- trained medical teams in each district comprising Medical Officers and Specialist Family Physicians are in tele- consultation with the patient.

There is no necessity to get registered with your area Medical Officer of Health ( MOH) or Public Health Inspector (PHI).
