Mix reactions for National Super League

Nishantha Weerasinghe (Police SC)

Generally there are issues, especially with the team selections. There's a purpose in this exercise, but of how teams are being drafted I don't see that purpose is being served. We are unaware on what basis were the selections done and how the players have been drafted. Because from my team, four players are in three different teams.

In my opinion skill is priority for any cricketer, the next step is to tone them in fitness and other requirements. Or else it's unfair on those who have really performed with skills and abilities at premier level.

If other requirements such as the 2km run under a specific timing, and the skin-fold issues were considered, I personally, as a coach think it's really unfair on the skilled cricketer. What matters is that if the player has fulfilled the basic skill levels and match fitness to come up with his performances.

I also don't see some deserving players in any of the teams, such as those who performed well with the bat and ball in the recent domestic competition. That's what bothers me as a coach, and I really don't see anything related with cricket taking place within the framework of NSL.
