A Basic Right
Education is a basic human right and the right to education is included under Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNHR), along with a call for free and compulsory elementary education for all.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child ventures further by stating that countries shall make higher education accessible to all. Despite all this, about 258 million children and adolescents lack the opportunity to enter or complete school, while about 617 million children and adolescents do not have the ability to read and do basic math.
