Signature powers Sri Lanka Rugby Men’s and Women’s teams for Commonwealth Games 2022

Signature, Sri Lanka’s leading home- grown menswear brand has been appointed as the ‘Official Clothing Partner’ of the Sri Lanka Rugby Men’s and Women’s National Sevens Teams for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham - UK.

The event is due to take place from 28th July to 8th August 2022. The national rugby selectors have already finalised a squad of 20 men’s and women’s players, with 12 in the squad and eight standbys. Sri Lanka’s No.1 Men’s wear solution provider Hameedia introduced the brand Signature to the Sri Lankan mass market in 1990 to provide them affordable and quality menswear solutions. Since then, the brand has grown steadily to become a general trade leader in the retail fashion arena in Sri Lanka.

As a result of the pandemic, Sri Lankan sports men and women have been starved of local and international sporting action for almost two years. This has limited their development and hindered their progress due to lack of competition. With the country and the world opening up following the easing of the pandemic restrictions, sporting events are back and teams are racing against time to be fully prepared for upcoming events.

With the aim of providing a timely boost to the men’s and women’s rugby team, Signature has stepped forward to support the two Sri Lankan rugby sevens teams in their endeavour to bring glory to Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham – UK. The Hameedia Group has been an integral part of sports in Sri Lanka since the 1990s. The company was the clothing sponsors for Cricket World Cup in 1996 and has supported Western provincial rugby tournaments in the past. This latest initiative is a continuation of Signature’s efforts to uplift the standards of sports in Sri Lanka by lending financial support to associations and athletes.
