National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka celebrates ‘Asian Games for all’

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka ( NOC) conducted a national level drawing and painting contest under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Organising Committee of the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 for children under 13 years of age to mark the celebration of ‘Asian Games for all’.

This enabled everyone a chance to be involved in the Asian Games which is to be held in Hangzhou, China by next year and live the experience regardless of age, gender, or athletic ability to get involved to promote the games.

Out of 838 registrations, a total of 50 paintings were shortlisted for the second and final round of the contest. The selected bunch were invited to Colombo for the final contest which was held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on June 10. As per the Olympic Council of Asia’s guidelines ten best drawings (five boys and five girls) were selected and awarded on the same day at the Awards Ceremony which was taken place at the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium of the NOC.

All the 50 contestants were awarded certificates and prizes too. The best 10 drawings will be sent to the Asian Games 2022 Organising Committee to display during the games as well as for the next level of Asian level art contest. From the Asian Level art contest, four (two male and two female) paintings will be selected as the best drawings.

The top 10 winners of the competition according to the ranking are J.A. Sanuli Vidunika Jayasinghe, Danuli Hansara Balasooriya, Sithumlee Risnidi Ediriweera, H.M. Losandu Minhas Fernando, Yevinya Himandi Welengoda, D.M. Dasithi Hesara Dissanayake, Sehas Ransilu Kuruwitage, Samiru Sasvidu Wijewardana, Vihan Yuthmira Buddhakorala and G.V. Kenuka Sayul Vidanage.
