Police reshuffle in Kandy

A massive reshuffle and transfer of Police Personnel at Kandy Police Headquarters has been ordered by Senior Superintendent of Police Chamila K Ratnayake.

The main purpose of the Police is to serve the public, and justice must be served to those who complain says SSP Ratnayake. "Sometimes, when a complaint is lodged, the offended party has to come to the Police Station and the alleged offender does not come. Under the law the Police have the power to notice alleged offenders to come to the Branch, but this invariably takes months."

These are some of the issues that made the Senior Superintendent of Police take action.

The Inspector in Charge of the Multi Offences Branch has not been transferred as he had come to this Unit recently, and two others who are attending Court proceedings have not been transferred.

Altogether 43 Police personnel have been transferred or reshuffled, in order to offer a better service to the pubic.
