Renown FA and Pallekanugala NS impress at Seethawaka Invitational Junior Football tourney

Renown Football Academy and Pallekanugala National School impressed at the Invitational Junior Football Tournament organised and conducted by Seethawaka Football League and Sunday Football Academy last week at the Philip Gunawardene ground in Puwakpitiya.

Renown FA claimed the categories of Under-16 Boys, Under-14 Boys and Under-10 Boys while Pallekanugala NS won the Under16 Girls, Under-14 Girls and also emerged runners-up in the Under12 Girls categories.

Renown FA claimed the Under16 Boys category beating N.M.

Perera NS, Yatiyantota while Pallakanugala NS ‘A’ clinched the Girls title in the same age group beating N.M. Perera NS. Renown FA ‘A’ beat Kiriwatthuduwa Maha Vidyalaya to emerged Under-14 Boys champions while its Girls title went to Pallekanugala NS ‘A’ who overcame Sunday FA in the final.

Renown FA ‘B’ won the Under-10 Boys category while Renown FA ‘A’ emerged the runners-up. The Under-12 Girls’ category was won by N.M. Perera MV as Pallekanugala NS finishing as runners-up. Renown FA produced the best player of the tournemant while Pallekanugala NS had the privilege of producing the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The football tournament was organised and conducted with the intention of popularising the sport and to unearth hidden talent in the area with Seethawaka FL and Sunday FA joining hands to organise and conduct the event. The tournament featured invited schools and football academies namely Sunday FA, Renown FA, Moratuwa FA, Pallakanugala National School, N.M. Perera Maha Vidyalaya, Yatiyantota, Kiriwatthuduwa National School and Homagama Central.
