ICC Anti-Corruption head due shortly

Alex Marshall, the head of the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) will arrive shortly in the island to investigate allegations of match-fixing made in Sri Lanka's parliament.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) extended an invitation to the ACU head after an opposition MP questioned the outcome of the first Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in July.

Pakistan chased down a target of 342 in the fourth innings to go 1-0 up in the two match series.

“He will arrive here shortly,” confirmed SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva but offered no further details about the date of his arrive or the nature of job

during his stay in the Island.

The claim was made by Member of Parliament Nalin Bandara.

"In the last Pakistan series, our team scored 400-odd [Sri Lanka had set a target of 342, a ground record if achieved], and still lost in the last innings. From the person who rolls the pitch, everyone has been given money. The board has become a gambling den."

MP Bandara has been in war with SLC, particularly with its President Shammi Silva in the recent past. He offered no evidence to support his allegation but ask the government to look into the matter.
