HelpAge greeting cards help provide free cataract surgeries of senior citizens

HelpAge Sri Lanka comes to mind, especially during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year season. Like in the past several years, this year too HelpAge is issuing over 300,000 greeting cards.

As the Christmas season is coming closer anybody who wishes to contribute towards the HelpAge free cataract surgery programme could purchase seasonal greeting cards for their friends and relations.

The greeting cards are adorned with colourful photographs, paintings and graphic designs which are embossed and foiled.

The cards are on sale at very reasonable prices in leading bookshops including MD Gunasena’s, Vijith Yapa, Sarasavi, Unique Creations, Samudra and Sadeepa.

The proceeds will be utilised to conduct free cataract surgeries to underprivileged senior citizens over 55 years.

For any underprivileged senior citizen who wishes to have his/ her cataract surgery done completely free of charge, HelpAge is ready to perform it at HelpAge Eye Hospital, Wellawatta (Opposite Savoy Cinema).

HASL Executive Director, Samantha Liyanawaduge said free cataract surgeries are performed with the latest technology and Intraocular Lenses (IOLs).

He said HelpAge has conducted over 43,000 free cataract surgeries during the last 20 years.

Greeting cards are also available at HASL Headoffice at 102, Pemananda Mawatha, Raththanapitiya, Boralesgamuwa.
