Dharmapalians conduct Mini Netball Tournament 2022

The ‘Mini Netball Tournament 2022’, organised as a part of the programme to champion the sport of netball in Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya, was held in a grand manner under the guidance of Past Dharmapalians Netball Association. Over 200 netball players participated at the event.

Vijitha Thalaghala, who was the teacher-in-charge of Health and Physical Education for 10 years at Dharmapala, Pannipitiya attended the event as chief guest and was accompanied by the Principal Maheshika Rupasinghe, Vice Principal Nimal Wasala, Prefect of Games Malani Yatawara and the Executive President of the Past Pupils’ Association, Deepal Herath. Also in attendance were the teachers of the primary section, members of the netball association along with parents of pupils.

The tournament focused mainly on the 200-plus players from Grades 4 to 12 who went up against one another on grade level, was a very much exciting and a competitive affair from the start. Players who displayed exceptional talent in the tournament received honours and awards in grade level and event level.

“Sports as well as proper education both are important for the balanced development of students,” Principal Maheshika Rupasinghe stated, while greatly appreciating the efforts, dedication and the assistance provided by all relevant parties towards the progress of the sport was also appreciated by her as well.

The entire overhead of the tournament was met by the past Dhamapalians’ Netball Association while the event was also met with great praise by all those who were present as well.
