Evergreen plays at Wendt

A collection of evergreen Sri Lankan theatre productions, ‘Nari Bena’ and ‘Jasaya Saha Lenchina’, ‘Sinhabahu’ and ‘Kelani Palama’ will go on the boards from December 9 to 11 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Colombo.

With two shows daily at 3.30 pm and 7.00 pm Dayananda Gunawardena’s ever popular ‘Nari Bena’ and ‘Jasaya Saha Lenchina’ will go on the boards on December 9.

A number of popular artistes such as Rodney Warnakula, Bandula Wijeweera, Rathnashila Perera,

Indika Jayasinghe,

Nilmini Kottegoda, Sanjeewani

Wijekoon and Sunil Thilakarathne will perform in the plays while the musical compositions are by veteran musicians Lional Algama and Rohana Baddage.

Prof. Ediriweera Sarathchandra’s stylish play ‘Sinhabahu’ which talks about the father and son’s relationship will go on the boards on December 10.The play is a prescribed text for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Sinhala language syllabus. R. R. Samarakone’s popular play ‘Kelani Palama’, a satire on Sri Lanka’s social, economic and political system will be staged on December 11. Wanigasekara, Geetha Kanthi Jayakody, Prasannajith Abesooriya,Madhani Malwattage, Dimuthu Chinthaka, Prasad Sooriya Arachchi, Neluka Rekani etc.

All seats are box planned and tickets are now available at Lionel Wendt Theatre. ‘The theatre festival’ is organised by Jude Srimal.
