Savitribai Phule

The first female teacher in India, Savitribai 3hule was born in the state of Maharashtra.

In 1848, she co- founded the Indigenous Library one of the first schools for girls in India along with her husband Jyotirao 3hule and Fatima Sheikh.

Savitribai is also referred to as the mother of Indian feminism.
