THE HEART OF THE ROCKIES

Nestled in the borders of Idaho to the west, North Dakota and South Dakota to the east, Wyoming to the south and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan to the north Montana is a vast breathtaking wide-open space of endless blue skies, soaring snow-capped Rocky Mountains peaks, gushing geysers, sparkling mountain streams, shimmering glacial lakes, an abundance of enchanting wildlife, alpine meadows filled with flowers and an intoxicating, rich cultural heritage where the pioneer spirit is still alive and many old traditions live on in a captivating small-town charm where cowboys and ranchers still raise cattle, where buffalo still roam on the rolling plains of the laidback rural heartland of the Great American West.

Montana is the heart of the dramatic Rocky Mountains, one of the largest and most beautiful mountain ranges in North America, that extend for more than 3,000 miles from British Columbia in Canada to New Mexico in the United States.

Packed with a seemingly endless multitude of adventure activities from camping on the mountains and valleys, hiking forest trails alongside tumbling unexplored River rapids, mountain biking to crystal clear lakes that dramatically change from season to season to gold panning in historic mining towns and riding out with wranglers to learn the art of being a cowboy the rugged Rocky Mountains are a region that captures the adventurous spirit of the outdoors and remains a spectacular backcountry destination celebrated far and wide for its breathtaking wild and incredibly scenic landscape of endless snow-capped mountain peaks, gorgeous rivers, sparkling bright blue glacier-fed lakes, pristine natural environment and iconic wildlife.

The region is also famous for its ski resorts and is home to some of America’s premier National Parks.

Located near Glacier National Park The Museum of the Plains Indian is a permanent exhibition gallery founded in 1941 and displays richly varied arts of Northern Plains Tribal peoples including the Blackfeet, Crow, Northern Cheyenne, Sioux, Assiniboine, Arapaho, Shoshone, Nez Perce, Flathead, Chippewa and Cree – among the exhibit's highlights are historic clothing, horse tack, weapons, household implements, baby carriers and toys of the Nations, as well as both historic and contemporary arts and crafts.
