St. Sebastian’s, Holy Cross book final berths

St. Sebastian’s College, Katuneriya and Holy Cross College, Kalutara advanced to the final of the Under-19 Division II Tier ‘A’ Inter-School 2-day Cricket Tournament after dominating in their respective semi-final matches concluded yesterday.

St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya recorded a three-wicket win against Sri Sumangala College, Panadura at Surrey Village ground in Maggona, while Holy Cross earned first innings honours against

Sri Devananda MV, Ambalangoda at Kirimandala Mawatha.

St. Sebastian’s, helped by two fine bowling performances from Chathumal Nimesh and Thanuka Manaram, eased to a three wicket win against Sumangala Panadura. Nimesh claimed nine scalps in both innings, while Manaram grabbed eight wickets.

Half centuries from Sasindu Kaushan and Hansaja Brian enabled Holy Cross to pull off a comfortable first innings win over Sri Devananda MV. Brian claimed four wickets earlier on to restrict Sri Devananda to 138 in their first innings, and in response Holy Cross were 235 for the loss of nine wickets at close of play.
