SJB MP Dr V Radhakrishnan appointed Chair of Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr V Radhakrishnan was appointed Chair of Parliament’s Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education on Tuesday (21).

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP Sivagnanam Shritharan proposed Dr Radhakrishnan, and SJB MP Rohini Kumari Wijerathna seconded it.

Assuming the Chairmanship of the Committee, Dr Radhakrishnan stated that he has an understanding in this regard because he has worked as a former Minister of State for Education. He said he hopes to do his best through the Committee.

Since the Committee is of a wide field, two sub-committees were appointed: the Higher Education and Research Sub-Committee, and the Skill Development and Vocational Training Sub-Committee.

Parliamentarians Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Sanjeeva Edirimanna, Kulasingham Thilipan, Asanka Navaratne, Mudita Prishanthi de Soyza, Mayadunna Chinthaka Amal, Manjula Dissanayake and Prof Charitha Herath were present at the Committee meeting.
