Vocational Training Authority gets boost from Korea

Cabinet granted approval for the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka to enter into an agreement with the Korea Human Resource Development Service.

The Human Resources Development Service implemented under the Department of Labour and Employment in Korea has agreed to provide a grant of KRW 2.15 billion to upgrade and develop the capacity of the National Vocational Training Institute, Niyagama, which operates under the Vocational Training Authority.

The proposed project is scheduled to be implemented over a period of two years from 2023. The proposed draft agreement has received the Attorney General's clearance and the approval of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Foreign Resources.

The proposal presented by the Education Minister was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. It is expected to strengthen the vocational education and training sector.
