SLC forms Cricket Committee

Former Sri Lanka skipper Sanath Jayasuriya, who heads the Cricket Technical Consultative Committee appointed by the Minister of Sports, will be a part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) sevenmember cricket committee.

The committee will be led by Jayantha Dharmadasa, the vice president in charge of international cricket.

Other members of the committee include former cricketers Mahela Jayawardena, the current consultant coach, and Chief Selector Pramodya Wickremasinghe. The remaining members are Ravin Wickremaratne, the Vice President in charge of domestic cricket, Mohan de

Silva, the Secretary, Chief Operating Officer Jerome Jayaratne, and Chief Executive Officer Ashley de Silva.

After the Aravinda de Silva-led committee resigned following the change of the sports minister last year, no replacement was made until this week when the SLC, Ex-Co decided to revive the all-important committee.

“What we wanted is to bring everyone together and work for the betterment of the game,” explained Ashley de Silva.

“We cannot have a disjointed system and this will help us make inform decisions and pass them to the Executive Committee for approval”.

In March this year, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe appointed a five-member Technical Consultative Committee headed by Jayasuriya which also includes former cricketers, Farveez Maharoof, Asantha de Mel, Kapila Wijegunawardena and Charith Senanayake.
