Large scale ganja farm raided in Yala

In a joint operation conducted by the Army and Matara Crime Division police officers, a large scale ganja farm spanning over five acres was raided based on information provided by the Army Intelligence Division.

The operation, carried out for four days from December 18 in the Yala Reserve, resulted in the discovery of cannabis plants, ready to be harvested at a height of about six feet.

The raid took place in the Pilimagala, Mahaaru area in the Yala reserve, approximately ten miles from the Buttala-kataragama road. One suspect was arrested during the operation and a locally made firearm was seized.
